As we all have and wear clothes, they can act as a vehicle to talk about our lives. But fashion is too often seen as a frivolous, vain and ephemeral industry.
The design process may vary by specialty, but it generally takes 6 months, from initial design concept to final production, to release either the spring or fall collection. After winning the first Biodesign Challenge in 2016, three students from the Fashion Design Knitwear program founded AlgiKnit, which creates sustainable materials.
